WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU SEEN & WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MAKE THE TRANSFORMATION?

It took me awhile to change. I worked with Julie for 2.5 years on transforming my physique. I started at around 150 pounds. I have lost a significant amount of inches and about 15 lbs. It was an incredibly challenging for me to lose this weight because my body was mainly in a transform fat to muscle stage. I did not have a lot of weight to lose but I had a lot of transformation take place in my inches especially around my thighs and glute area.

I can say the biggest thing that helped my transformation was when my MINDSET changed. During my time with Julie I realized that this was also a “process” which I needed to learn and walked through. When I first started working with Julie I wasn’t giving my 100%. I may have been giving 80 or 85%, but my biggest downfall was the little munch here, or an extra something there in my nutritional plan. Through my time with her, I “learned” that my glutes and hips were very sensitive to change and my transformation was dependant on my diet significantly. The changes I wanted to see didn’t happen until I realized I had to give my all to my goal which was to compete in figure. Julie had to have a “heart-to-heart” talk with me about this goal, dedication, and commitment it would take. After that discussion I never looked back. Since then I can say some days are great! Some days were down right challenging but with Julie’s help and a person’s 100% commitment to their goal (any goal) IT CAN BE DONE!!

What do you enjoy most about fitness?

I love that fitness isn’t compartmentalized!  You have so many avenues to stay in shape its incredible!  As long as your open to them, you can pretty much be active doing anything you want!  One of things I would tell Julie is I walked a lot.  Even during my pre-comp prep training I walked and saw incredible results change in my thighs and glutes.  I walked sometimes for miles with my dogs.  But I also enjoyed “beast-mode” at the gym or the outdoors running football stadium stairs or attaching a parachute to my waist and running from one touchdown area to the other. I love crossfit, running with my middle school kids during our coaching sessions taunting them “are you boys going to let an old lady beat you”?? I have learned that fitness is truly a gift to enjoy…but the key for me was LEARN.

    What are your fitness goals?

Right now my fitness goals are to continue to lean down and gain muscle.  I may not ever compete again but that doesn’t mean I won’t look like a competitor:-).  I also plan to continue with my love for triathlons, and helping other women “learn” to place nutrition first and realize its not just about their health but the health of their family as well.

What motivates you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

My family and “the great urge” to age gracefully:-)….

What is the best part about working with Julie?

She is sooo positive, always in your corner, very truthful, encouraging, and committed to ANY goal you aspire to complete!  She will work with you in any sport, any arena, and nothing is outside her expertise.  She trained me during a few of my triathlons, she trained me during my coaching session with my middle school kids, she knows how to incorporate “life” into your plans. She is very flexible and always wants you to communicate what works what doesn’t work…she knows the importance of family, challenging days, and great days.  She also knows what it takes to compete if that’s your goal as well as just getting your family up and moving. I can’t say enough positives about our training time together.

What is the worst part about working with Julie?

She’s too far for us out of towners:-(((

    Favorite 'diet' food:

My saving grace during pre-comp? Neopolitian UMP Pudding.  ( Depending Macros): I used- 1 scoop of chocolate, vanilla, and rock road UMP. I mixed each individual powders to a pudding consistency layering them one on top of the other in a container.  I then took 1 tsp of PB2 peanut butter powder and mixed that to a pudding consistency and put it on top of my layered UMP, freeze for about 20-25 minutes. It satisfied me every time!

Any other comments or anything else you would like to share

I did also attended her mock competition training prior to my real competition. Well worth the time and money!  Really helped ease my nerves about what a competition is all about.
