Real Fitness Stories – Chris Trimpey

Real Contest Prep Stories by Chris Trimpey

My fitness journey started a little over two years ago.  I walked into a gym to join an insanity class and a trainer approached me about the idea.  She thought I had the work ethic and athletic build to become a figure competitor.  So two weeks later we sat down and came up with “a plan.” My plan consisted of very little knowledge as I began to realize.  She told me some things to eat but nothing was taught to me about macros and feeding me body.

My trainer hated cardio so why do cardio.  As the weeks and months progressed I would work out for two hours at a time.  Lifting the entire time.  I was sore.  At first I thought is was because I had never really lifted in the past but I was not recovering.  As we got closer to show we then talked about water depletion.

For my first show I drank only a water body on Friday and nothing on Saturday.  Show day I cramped.  It didn’t help me to come in tighter.  It didn’t help me look leaner.  If anything I looked flat.  Very frustrated being the athlete that I am I thought I would give it another go.  I then began to research things myself.  Second show I completed more cardio and gave myself a little more water during peek week.  I did come in a little better for this show but the judges pretty much gave me the same feedback.  I needed to lean out my legs, add muscle, and just overall come in with a better package,  but I did have the right fundamentals the judges told me.

So this is when I got back on line and began researching more.  I had to find a way to eat to fuel my body yet come in leaner.  Interesting enough when I was researching, Julie Lohre’s name kept popping up again and again.  I spoke with my husband and said if I want to be serious and I want to make real changes I need to talk to her and see if she and I are a good fit.

I have now been working with Julie for over a year.  So I would say we were a GREAT fit.  She listens to you, fuels your body properly, trains you to your individual potential, and just wants to provide a lifestyle that you can live every single day.  Best of all, peek week, I drink lots of water and I mean lots.  I don’t starve.  I eat to fuel my body.  I don’t deprive myself of foods I want.  The variety of food Julie offers is also amazing.  I eat chocolate chip cookies, strawberry pancakes, and so much more.

Yes, during my contest prep my workouts and meals get a little more restricted but I am a mom of 3 children and I am able to work out, complete my cardio, prep dinner and still get my girls to all of their events.  Julie has become part of my family in many ways.  When I get my meal plan my family will ask what does Julie have us eating for dinner this week?  When I get my workouts my husband will ask to see it and join me on some of the work outs instead of completing his own.
