Rachel Gandolph
Personal Information
I am a 32 year old health care professional, working as a dentist at a major university health care system in Indianapolis. Throughout my many years in school, I did not have a lot of time for myself and my education always came first. In college I began stress eating and drinking soda and coffee to stay awake at night studying. Every time I did well on a exam I would reward myself with food. I spent most of my twenties going up and down on the scale and struggling with my weight. After all the hard work was over I was 40 + lbs overweight. I knew I had to change my lifestyle when I was supposed to be enjoying all the benefits of years of hard work, yet I felt rundown and depressed.
What are your greatest fitness accomplishments so far?
Stepping on stage at the NPC Kentucky Muscle placing in the top 5 of my class at my very first competition!!
WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU SEEN & WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MAKE THE TRANSFORMATION?
I have lost 45 lbs total. When I began working with Julie I lost an additional 12 % of my body fat over a period of 5 months! I was able to lose some weight on my own, eating the typical “diet” foods. It was not until I starting working with Julie and following her nutritional plan that I really began to notice a change in my body composition. Julie taught me that I could actually lose weight while eating more and not starving myself.
I really feel that proper nutrition made all the difference in my physical appearance, I feel that at least 75% of my results came from what I ate.
What do you enjoy most about fitness?
I love the way I feel when I am eating clean and working out. I really enjoying pushing myself to beat my own personal best in the gym. I have found that fitness competitions are fun way to feed my competitive drive and constantly push myself in a positive direction.
What are your fitness goals?
My goals are to continue to transform by body by gaining more muscle and losing fat. Overtime, I would love to add more muscle to my frame and compete as a figure competitor.
What motivates you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?
Seeing the changes in my body and how much better I feel keeps me motivated. Taking photos to document your progress is great motivation too. I truly believe that having a healthy and active makes me a good example for my patients and a better health care provider.
What is the best part about working with Julie?
Julie is always positive and encouraging in helping you achieve your goals. I am always impressed with how quickly she answers questions and email, I know I had lots!
What is the worst part about working with Julie?
Silly question, there are no bad parts!!
Favorite 'diet' food:
Beverly International Ultimate Muscle Protein, it is so versatile you can use it for anything. Lately I have been hooked on protein pudding made with Chocolate UMP!

I love the fact that Julie only works with women. It is great because she knows exactly how a woman’s body responds to diet and training. There are some things men just can’t relate to, and Julie can totally relate! I am so thankful to have met Julie, she is a amazing trainer and even better person! I could have never done this without her, Thank you Julie!!
