    Personal Information

I am a 28 years old mother of 2 that is always on the go.  My fiancé and I both work full time in law enforcement;  myself on the midnight shift (which can make my meal planning a little tricky) and my kids are old enough that they have their own extra-curricular activities as well.  An average week for our family consists of at least 4-5 different practices/games/competitions.

What are your greatest fitness accomplishments so far?

Though I have always been active growing up (Soccer, Cheerleading, and Track during high school, and Softball and Volleyball in college), I am most proud of my most recent accomplishments since working with Julie.  I just crossed off one of my bucket list items by stepping on stage!  I competed in two competitions this fall;  Fitness America Ohio Valley and NPC Kentucky Muscle.  I was blown away to take 1st place in the Fitness America Ohio Valley Open Figure class as my first show ever, and though I didn’t place at the NPC Kentucky Muscle – I stood on stage next to 24 other amazing physiques knowing that I deserved to be there.  I am in the best shape of my life and it feels amazing!

WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU SEEN & WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MAKE THE TRANSFORMATION?

During the Fall 2013 Team FitBody, I started in August at 17.2% body fat and went to 11.4% by mid-October!  I lost 4 lbs and put on 5 lbs of muscle.  This sounds silly to say, but it really is 90% DIET!!!  Changing my diet to eat clean and smart has given me the greatest gains.

What do you enjoy most about fitness?

I am very competitive and I see fitness as an opportunity to push myself for constant improvement. ME vs. ME. I can always be faster or stronger or go further than yesterday! I love that you can find a fitness aspect in every part of your day- eating a clean wholesome breakfast means I start my day energized, drinking water ensures that I am hydrated and consistently flushing out toxins, getting my workouts in keeps me fit so that I can keep up with my family and our busy schedule, all of these make me feel accomplished in taking care of myself which motivates me to keep going. Fitness is what you want to make it, and I want it to be my lifestyle.

    What are your fitness goals?

I would like to continue adding muscle while tightening my physique.  I enjoys seeing my body change.  I would like to continue competing and one day hope to place in a National level show.

What motivates you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

The way I feel!  I am a role model for my children.  I am a more connected partner.  I am a stronger coworker.  My self-confidence has tripled.  I am just happier all around.

What is the best part about working with Julie?

I love working with Julie because she knows her stuff!  She is an expert in the field and has done it all herself.  It gives me comfort to know that she is there every step of the way for as much or as little as I need.  I am so thankful that she has put together Team FITBODY so that you are not alone in your competition prep.  This journey (though I feel it is still just the beginning) has already given me so much… a better understanding of my nutrition, knowledge of the competition scene, a supportive team of women that are now also my friends, and a bangin’ body to boot!

What is the worst part about working with Julie?

I only wish she was a little closer!  I have to prep a meal for the drive, but it’s totally worth it!

    Favorite 'diet' food:

2 Lundberg’s Organic Honey Nut Brown Rice Cakes, topped with UMP pudding:
1 scoop Rocky Road UMP mixed with a little water and 1 tsp. local organic honey and sliced organic strawberries

Any other comments or anything else you would like to share

I’d really like to take a moment to address the mothers that are reading this… It has taken years for me to realize just how important it was for me to make the time for myself.  I felt guilty and selfish for wanting ME time.  (Finding a gym with great childcare helped lift some of that, because I know my kids are still having fun while I get my workout in.)  But now that I have made myself a priority again, I am so much happier and a better mother as well.  I have more energy to keep up with my kids and I am setting an example for them along the way about what it means to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle.  Even if you can’t wrap your head around doing this for yourself… Do it for your children if that’s what it takes!
